Dr. Angus MacDonald Maiden Dubh an Donais (Black Sticks of the Devil)

In Cape Breton Peter MacLeod senior is well-remembered because of his famous reel, John Morrison - a tune which was recorded on 78 disc by Winston Fitzgerald. His son, Peter Junior, was a child prodigy and the above classic strathspey composed for his sister when he was a quite young.

Dora MacLeod was first published in John Wilson's 1st Collection 1935. It was popularized in Cape Breton by itinerent Scottish piper Sandy Boyd who passed it on to fiddlers Dan Hughie MacEachern and Alex Francis MacKay. More recently Scottish piper Dr. Angus MacDonald recorded it on Maiden Dubh and Donais (Black Sticks of the Devil)
