Brenda learned it from family friend Winston
Fitzgerald. Winston had used it for the theme music on
his long-running radio show. It is likely American in
origin, first appearing in Ryan's
Mammoth
(1883). There is also an Irish hornpipe setting in G
called The Flowing Tide.
