First published in O'Neill's 1001 Gems (1907) apparently O'Neill collected it from fiddler Johnny Allen of Feakle during a 1906 trip to County Clare. The mp3 comes from a 1983 recording of Sean Ryan.The setting above comes largely from Cape Breton Irish fiddler Johnny Wilmot (1916-93).
