The composer, the
late Hugh Inkster was a fiddler from The Orkney Islands.
In the late 70s the Smithsonian issued an LP containing
this tune.
Introduced to the Cape
Breton repertoire by fiddler Joe MacLean, his
sister Theresa
Morrsion
recorded it on her CD, L:aments and Merry Melodies. Three
years later Willie
Kennedy
recorded it - and it's likely he learned it from
Theresa's recording.
