Buttons Cranford
Publications specializes in Celtic fiddle music from
Cape Breton, Ireland and Scotland. Proprietor Paul Cranford
is a fiddler and composer firmly rooted within the
traditions of music he sells. This site provides resources
for a continuing tradition. We create and distribute books
of music notation and related recordings; materials intended
to help you learn fiddle tunes as interpreted by Cape Breton
fiddlers. As you explore you will
find links to thousands of tunes. Check out the pages
featuring books and CDs and you will find links to tunes as
free, on-screen musical notation. sound clips, midi files,
ABCs or to articles, photos and descriptions - most relating
to books and CDs which we make available in our on-line
store. Two new
compilations featuring 20 fiddlers have been added
to Rounder's Traditional Fiddle Music of Cape
Breton series. Titled, MacKinnon's

fiddlers include Father Francis Cameron, Stan
Chapman, Joe Cormier, Jerry Holland, Willie
Kennedy, Charlie MacCuspic, John L. MacDonald, Carl
MacKenzie, Maynard MacKenzie, Joe Peter MacLean,
Donald MacLellan, Theresa MacLellan, Bussy MacLeod,
Kenneth MacLeod, Buddy MacMaster, Morgan
MacQuarrie, Theresa Morrison, Wilfred Prosper and

passed away in 2008 at age 95. This double CD
was compiled from home recordings made from
1955-2003 Longtime Cape
Breton Fiddler's Association member,

playing for his centenarian mother. Brenda
Stubbert has 2

six CDs to her credit. Brenda
Stubbert's Collection of Fiddle
Tunes
now includes chords and photos. Volume 7 of
Cranford Publications' Cape
Breton Musical Heritage
Series
contains 267
Fiddle tunes from approximately seventy-five
contemporary Cape Breton composers as well as
Scottish and Cape Breton music from earlier

Paul Cranford started publishing in 1979 with a
reproduction of The
Skye Collection.
For the past 34 years he has also kept a 'day-job' as a
lighthouse
keeper. An ideal
place to write, practice and maintain this website, his
current posting is Machias
Seal Island a bird
sanctuary located on the Canadian-US border in the Bay of
Fundy. During his months off. Paul lives on the Cabot Trail
in rural Cape Breton.
