County Leitrim's master of the concert flute, John McKenna, is one of the most influential figures in the history of recorded Irish music. A contemporary of Coleman and Morrison, he was born in 1880 in Co. Leitrim, and emigrated to the US about 1911. His recording career spanned a period of 16 years from 1921-37 in New York.
