MacArthur Road was written in the key of E major by Dave Richardson for John and Margaret MacArthur of Marboro Vermont, longtime friends of The Boys of the Lough. Natalie MacMaster recordied it in that key with Sharon Shannon on Natalie's new CD In My Hands.

Like his other famous composition, the jig Calliope House, many traditional players shifted it to the more universal key of D. Kinnon Beaton learned it at a festival in Scotland from pipers Finn and Duncan Moore. Kinnon plays it on his CD Saturday Night Lively
