Bill Lamey

Major Manson is a 20th century Scottish pipe tune which was popular amongst fiddlers in Cape Breton during the mid-late fifties1950s. It was first published in the Edcath Collection Vol. 1, a highland bagpipe book by Donald Shaw Ramsay (1953).

In the late fifties it was recorded on 78 disc by fiddler Theresa MacLellan and on a home recording of Bill Lamey. On the CD, Full Circle (Rounder Records) note that Bill plays the upper octave G notes somewhere between G# and G natural (as do the pipes).
