Micheal Gorman

The Sligo Champion A 2 CD set with biography by Reg Hall

57 classic tracks on two discs plus lots of facinating history. Sligo fiddler Michael Gorman (1895-1970) was a close assoicate of Michael Coleman before the latter emigrated to America. Many musicians in London such as Willie Clancy, Bobby Casey and Martin Byrnes, mature before they met Gorman, have acknowledged learning from him. The Mountain Road is undoubtedly his most famous tune and, as with many of the tunes he played, over time Michael added to it. In this case, eventually it evolved to a 6 turn structure. Several of his other tunes are claimed here as his originals.
