Although young in years (he is 59 at the time of writing) Larry plays in an old style - perhaps because one of his strongest influences was Joe Confiant (1901-1985). When Larry was a child on the Gannon Road, he used to listen to the goings-on at the house parties Joe would be at - and because of the drinking etc. he wasn't allowed in, so little Larry had to sneak around at the windows, listening in to the music being played. Joe was Johnny Wilmot's uncle and also Johnny's main influence.
More tunes from Larry can be found in The Cape Breton Fiddlers Collection & Brenda Stubbert: The 2nd Collection . He is a regualr at the Thursday night Northside Session which I frequent.
