The above setting comes from The Cape Breton Highland Collection The composer, Scottish piper Robert Meldrum (1851-1941) was one of the finest players of his generation. A military man, because of the demands of that profession, he didn't compete as much and hence wasn't perhaps as well known as he should have been. Apparently he played the pipes to a very high standard well into his 80s. Popular as a traditional reel within the Cape Breton fiddle tradition, it can be heard on the Highland Legacy DVD where it was recorded by Kinnon Beaton and on Joe Peter MacLean’s CD. MP3
