Cape Breton fiddler Johnny Wilmot (1916-93  played both Irish and Scottish music in a rooted, local, traditional style. 

He grew up on the Northside living with his uncle fiddler Joe Confiant who also played both Irish and Scottish styles. Before them Joe’s uncle Henry Fortune felt it was import to keep the syles separate. Apparently Henry played Irish music in a more flowing style using longer bowstrokes.

This compilation from Breton Books spans the 78 and early LP era from the early 1950s through mid '60s
